Arya Samaj Gandhidham was established by Late Shri Laljibhai Gohil in 1954 and was joined by youngsters in 1986. Since then Arya Samaj Gandhidham, got an impetus and became a model Arya Samaj in India due to constantly increasing activities and relief work done during natural calamities. Arya Samaj is one of the most prestigious-social and voluntary organizations in Gandhidham.
The joining of youngsters in 1986 started the success story of Arya Samaj Gandhidham, attaining the present status from nothing in 1986. Today Arya Samaj Gandhidham is India’s model and constantly active Arya Samaj.
Before the devastating earthquake of 26th January, 2001 Arya Samaj Gandhidham was totally dependent on local donations for all its activities.
After Earthquake, seeing the organized way in which work was being done by Arya Samaj Gandhidham, national and international community has started donating in a large way and helping us in all our projects.
Arya Samaj Gandhidham is very active in social work in the Gandhidham area. Apart from “Jeevan Prabhat” our other present activities include
1), Kutch District Medical Oxygen Bank
2) Mohalla Havan,
3) Marriages with simplicity,
4) Yoga camps,
5) Rich Library and
many other social activities beneficial to mankind.
We have rebuilt and handed over a government girl’s school at Mundra. This school was reconstructed at a cost of Rs. 27 lacs. We Have started Dayand Arya Vedic Public School at Adipur in 2009 which at present has a student strength of 1200+. This school is a forerunner amongst the CBSE affiliated schools of this area. Recently in 2024 we have started OM Dayand Arya Vedic Public School at Anjar on similar lines.
Earthquake Relief Work: Over 2.5 crores rupees worth relief material was received in the form of 112 trucks from inland and 32 containers from abroad was received and distributed in the entire Kutch district. Community mess was run to feed thousands of displaced people. Over 1000 dead bodies were recovered and their last rites were performed with ghee and havan samagri with the recital of Vedic Mantras.
“Jeevan Prabhat”. With the thought of providing long term assistance to the widows and orphans who were the most affected but least attended section, we immediately planned a project at a cost of Rs. 3 Crores to provide them a permanent shelter with all possible help to boost their morale, rehabilitate and shape up their future to make them self sufficient, and thus we started an orphanage and aptly named it “Jeevan Prabhat” for as the name signifies it is really a new dawn in the lives of these earthquake orphans and widows. We are rearing them free of cost and without any distinction of caste & creed. We also feel proud in informing you that we are moulding these children to become model patriotic citizens of our Motherland-India.
D.A.V. Public School Gandhidham: With a view of providing better education to the children of Gandhidham-Adipur area we started “Dayanand Arya Vedic Public School” from 15th June 2009. At present the school has Nursery, Kindergarten and classes till 12th standard. We made a humble beginning with 130 students and at present we have 1200+ students.
OM D.A.V. Public School Anjar: Anjar which is only 8kms from Adipur surprisingly does not have a CBSE affiliated School. With a view to provide quality education to the children of Anjar we have started OM D.A.V. Public School Anjar. Like our school at Adipur this school is also English medium & Co-Education School. We have applied for and will shortly receive CBSE affiliation. When fully functional this school will accommodate 2000+ students.
