The state Goverment of Gujarat with the help of the various agencies undertook the massive rescue and relief operations. We could overcome the initial shocks in a record time of about three months because of the excellent co-operation of various international agencies and support from the civil society.

It was a matter of great comfort in Gujarat's hour of crisis that the entire national as well as international community rose to the occassion to support Gujarat. This spontaneous surge of hummanity overwhelmed Gujarat. Rescue and Medical teams arrived not only from various parts of the State and Country but also from a number of countires. All of them did their best in contributing to immediate Relief and Rescue of the affected people. Equipments, medicines, tents, blankets and other useful household materials were airlifted and rushed to the devarstated areas. All this was unprecedented. Your organisation participated significantly in this regard.

We are close to the first annivesary of the devastating earthquake. At this juncture, I gratefully acknowledge the generous help given by your organisation, in providing immediate support to the earthquake afected people. We look forward to your continued support for the overall development of Gujarat.

I enclose a booklet which provides a glimpse of the rehabilitation and reconstruction work accomplished in a short span of one year.
